Extensions installed:
* TabBrowser extensions http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/_tabextensions.html.en
* Session Saver 2D http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=47184 (Don't use the original Session Saver. It doesn't have crash recovery.)
* Dictionary Search http://dictionarysearch.mozdev.org/
* Firesomething http://www.cosmicat.com/extensions/firesomething/
* Spellbound spell checker http://www.exchangecode.com/spellbound/
My favorite theme is Orbit Green at:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jessica.davis/firefox.html
but it doesn't currently work with Firefox 0.9 and the page isn't even there right now..
TODO:
* If a link opens in a new window, how do I force it to open a tab instead?
Other Firefox/mozilla extensions:
* http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/
Speedup Firefox:
forevergeek.com has a useful guide on speeding up firefox for broadband users. basically after getting to the hidden config settings you set the browser to request more data that it usually does.
1.Type “about:config into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining to “true
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining to “true
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to “0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!
