Happy Halloween 2012! I wanted to be a part of Empire Uncut, so this year I made Yoda.

Every year I try to do something better than the year before. This year you'll notice that Yoda has fairly realistic facial features compared to Handy Smurf last year. Hand Smurf kind of has a flat face whereas Yoda has cheekbones and eye sockets and a proper chin. I basically learned how to shape the inner structure so that the face seems more real.

People responded well to the costume. People loved the face, the light saber, the electronics inside, and (for some reason) the feet. Whenever I handed the saber to someone they always commented how heavy and real it felt. They always express surprise and wonder when I tell them it's a $300 saber and that it's actually a low end model. Many sabers cost $800 and there are some which even go for $5000. Custom sabers are apparently a big niche market.
